He had his ups and downs here, and he will be missed by quite a few.  He often had a way of rubbing people the wrong way, but in the end he was always himself, take it or leave it.  I can only hope in his passing he has finally found that balance he always was seeking.

Quote from: Farrider on February 07, 2020, 01:57:20 pmIm sorry bro, I didn't really announce it to anyone besides Reap, it went word of mouth from there.

I was checking it once or twice a week since you took it down.  Watching and waiting.  I remember the post you made one time that you would keep the 'Binge up even if it ended up being you are Reaper BS'ing back and forth at each other.  Had a feeling you would find a way to bring it back in some fashion.
Quote from: xman on February 04, 2020, 05:56:10 amSooo, this was still the rule when the Clinton Foundation was in the seat and running for the next seat ?

Oh that's rite, it was ok cause if you disagreed you ended up committing suicide with a surgical tube wrapped around yur neck and jumping out a window !

You do not seem to get it.  Again trying to make this political. This is not an issue of Democrat or Republican, this is an issue that is directly effecting the legitimacy of our elections, and our national security.  If this was a Democrat and not a Republican in the office I would be writing the same things. This is a direct threat to the stability of our Constitution, and if the Senate does acquit every Senator who votes to do so is nothing more than an accessory in the coverup of probably the largest scandal in the history of the Presidency.
I was almost in tears writing it.  I never in all my years ever imagined I would have to be having to defend the Constitution and Rule of Law in such a fashion, not against foreign influences, but against the very elected officials that are ignoring 75% of what the country wants.

To modify a quote slightly of T.S. Elliot "This is how Democracy dies, not with a bang but a whimper."
52 USC 30121: Contributions and donations by foreign nationals.

Subtitle III-Federal Campaign Finance

ยง30121. Contributions and donations by foreign nationals

(a) Prohibition

It shall be unlawful for-

(1) a foreign national, directly or indirectly, to make-

(A) a contribution or donation of money or other thing of value, or to make an express or implied promise to make a contribution or donation, in connection with a Federal, State, or local election;

(B) a contribution or donation to a committee of a political party; or

(C) an expenditure, independent expenditure, or disbursement for an electioneering communication (within the meaning of section 30104(f)(3) of this title); or

(2) a person to solicit, accept, or receive a contribution or donation described in subparagraph (A) or (B) of paragraph (1) from a foreign national.

(b) "Foreign national" defined

As used in this section, the term "foreign national" means-

(1) a foreign principal, as such term is defined by section 611(b) of title 22, except that the term "foreign national" shall not include any individual who is a citizen of the United States; or

(2) an individual who is not a citizen of the United States or a national of the United States (as defined in section 1101(a)(22) of title 8) and who is not lawfully admitted for permanent residence, as defined by section 1101(a)(20) of title 8.

So there you have it folks, the Presidents defense attorneys and many of the Republican Senators are stating no law was broken, but here it is in writing he did.

On top of this direct and blatant violation that was proven by Trump's own legal team, the GAO (Government Accounting Office) determined he did break the law by withholding the aid.  If this had been a real trial and the witnesses were allowed to testify and the documents were subpoenaed as they should have been this would be common knowledge rather than just the knowledge of those who chose to look at the facts of the case. The reason for blocking of witnesses was to stop this from being heard by the Senators, even though they know he is guilty.  A lie of omission and saying "I was just following orders" has been the excuse used by the lackeys of tyrants and dictators all through history, and today that is what we witnessed. We witnessed the Senate of the United States grant unlimited powers with no oversight to the Executive Branch of the Government. The very thing the framers were trying to protect us from.

QuoteHow do we stop the deaths..

We cannot stop them, but the number can be manipulated.

There is a common dominator in most gun killings, (not talking about school shooting by other kids, THAT is another topic), the word is criminals !

Therre I said it ...

Harden the system to eradicate the criminal element and the death number will certainly fall.

Incorrect logic there my friend. Fix the educational and social systems in our country to eliminate or reduce poverty, increase educational quality, and ensure adequate medical and mental health coverage and services for your citizens and it reduces the criminals.

The solution is not to harden the systems of punishment, but to create a society that is balanced thereby lessening the criminal element that is generated due to many not having the basic needs and necessities to survive as described in Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs (www.simplypsychology.org/maslow.html).  Education is the key to this all, because without it we are nothing more that what we are told to be.

"A society should be judged not by how it treats its outstanding citizens but by how it treats its criminals."  - Fyodor Dostoyevsky

Quote from: Farrider on January 27, 2020, 11:18:59 pmEveryone's mind is made up and this still only ends in acquittal.

Start working to get votes, that is what your going to need. Your job is now harder because of these car clown's impeachment.

What is at stake is protecting that very vote you claim to hold so dear.

Impeachment is a part of the system of checks and balances to maintain the separation of powers and the republican form of government. The implication is that when the President (or other impeachable official) has committed an impeachable offense, the Members of the House, bound by the oaths they take to uphold the Constitution, are under a particular obligation to deal with the offenses, irrespective of whether their bill of impeachment may or may not lead to a conviction in the Senate. Where everyone gets it wrong is "Impeachable Offense" not the word crime is what was used by the founders.

I now climb down off my shoebox and step back from this debate as I feel that there is no more than can be said.  Facts speak for themselves, you have one group that is willing to testify , under oath, as to what happened, and one that is doing everything possible to block them from speaking but will not speak themselves.

Figure it out.
